Below is a blog post she wrote for the Minnesota FFA Foundation originally posted on February 2017.

Change is on my mind.
It is very fulfilling to see the change that occurs in a young person because of their involvement in FFA and agricultural education.  Through my involvement in the FFA as a volunteer, mentor, parent and member of the Minnesota FFA Foundation, I have personally heard stories about how being involved in FFA changed lives.  Young people found not only career paths and developed new skills, but they also found confidence and self-worth they didn’t have before.

FFA is a change agent.
I support the FFA because of the influence for good it brings to young people who are searching for purpose, a sense of direction, and insight to their full potential.  What motivates you to support the FFA?  Is it because you were once a member?  Perhaps your business or organization is grounded in agriculture and you value the impact it has on those involved?

Oxford scholar, Theodore Zeldin stated, “To be a catalyst is the ambition most appropriate for those who see the world as being in constant change, and who, without thinking that they control it, wish to influence it.”

Agriculture is in the midst of change.
Quite honestly, it always has been. Feeding mankind and caring for our natural resources requires innovation, and our best and brightest with both hard and soft skills to address the challenges and embrace the opportunities of the future.  The FFA Foundation’s purpose is to ensure young people across the state have access to classroom instruction. work-based learning, and leadership development in the FFA and agricultural education.

When you partner with the FFA Foundation, you become a catalyst for change. Entrepreneur, Jim Rohn, reminds us that “Life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.”

FFA changes lives.  With your investment, we can change even more.
