People and Places | July 14, 2016

Alicia Blair recently joined Look East as a graphic designer and is already bringing her high-energy, hands-on approach to our creative services. She will be working with Look East clients to share their vision through digital graphics, print media, infographics, social media posts and just about any other visual elements that can help tell their story.

“I see potential in everything. I see pieces and parts and love to put them together to make something new,” she said. “If you tell me a story I can visualize it.”

Alicia discovered graphic design in college when a professor encouraged her to combine her natural artistic talent with an interest in marketing. She graduated from Mid-America Nazarene University. For the past five years, she was a designer in the food retail and distribution industry. One of her favorite things about her profession is working with clients to develop a strategy, then using a variety of techniques to achieve the goal. Lots of research goes into her designs, which she focuses on making simple and believable.

Keeping up on the latest technology and trends keeps her on her toes.

“You have to be willing to change and keep up on what’s trending and what’s effective. It doesn’t matter if something is attractive or if you really like it, is has to be effective,” she explained.

Alicia’s spirit of discovery leads to lots of exploring in her native Kansas City. “I love Kansas City because there is a lot of culture here. We’re humble, but we’re the best combination between a small town and a huge city.”

She’s obsessive about local barbecue and finding new restaurants and food markets. When it comes to Kansas City sports, Alicia is a fanatic. She cheers on the Chiefs, where her boyfriend works in production, and is a true blue Royals fan. Her Halloween costume depicting Royals manager Ned Yost reached an impressive level of internet fame.

Alicia is excited to be part of the Look East team.

“I love that it is a growing company and I get to be part of helping build something with people who have a forward-thinking mindset,” she said.
